Transitional and Housing Support Program

The goal of our program is to provide women with practical and emotional assistance for a smooth transition from shelter or an abusive relationship to violence-free lives in the community.

The program can help women beyond their initial crisis by assisting them in identifying what steps are needed to achieve their short and long term goals. Our program focus is to promote safety, independence and empowerment for the women we serve.

We can help by:

  • Creation of a personal safety plan
  • Providing emotional support
  • Education on abuse issues
  • Assistance with housing applications
  • Walking through the process of applying for financial assistance
  • Follow-up and support after leaving the shelter or beginning an independent life in the community

The Transitional Housing and Support Program can provide referrals and information on various agencies and programs in the region to assist the woman with her transition into the community

The following are some examples of possible referrals:

  • Housing
  • Financial assistance
  • Basic needs
  • Employment agencies
  • Counselling
  • Landlord and tenant information
  • Education and training programs
  • Assistance in relocating to a new area
  • Child and youth services
  • Legal assistance
  • Support services for refugees/immigrants
