Outreach Education Program

Where self-help and personal wellness begins.

The Outreach Education Program consists of a Support Group for female victims of abuse in the community and life skills for residents of our shelter.

Support Group

A support group is the starting point of awareness. There is a focused educational topic each session combined with open sharing. Weekly sessions are held and Support Groups run throughout the year. A skilled Group Facilitator utilizes a variety of resources, including audio, visual and literary to raise awareness and understanding about the impact of abuse. The Support Group focuses on the universal experiences of abuse and incorporates cultural sensitivity. Cultural Interpreters are utilized and special needs can be accommodated, including offering one-on-one sessions for women that are unable to function in a group setting. Women that have participated in the support group receive tools to understand abuse issues and learn about actions that can change their situation.

Are you a victim of abuse and interested in changing your reality?

If so, please call Christine at (905) 732-4632 X 233.

Life Skills Sessions

Life skills sessions are open to all women residing in our shelter. The sessions are interactive and facilitated by a skilled Group Facilitator. Sessions are based on client needs and interests. Participants receive practical assistance, emotional support, enhance their skills to live independently and explore alternatives for action.
