You haven’t felt truly safe at home for some time because of the abuse that has torn your heart, and your life, in two. Yet your home should be the safest place in the world – a place for you to retreat and rest, to welcome friends, to raise your children, to regroup and recharge as you prepare to go out into the world, with all of its challenges, once again. To find a home – a true home – is no small feat. If you are choosing to leave an abusive relationship or are considering that choice, you’ve probably asked yourself questions like these many times: Where might my new home be located? What might it look like? How would I make it mine? And, how would I find safe, affordable housing in the first place and then find money to pay the rent? In addition to providing you with the employment and financial assistance that can help you lay the foundations for your new life, we can help you fill out housing applications and provide you with landlord and tenant information. If you’re planning to relocate to a new area, we can help you with that, too. Reminder: You don’t need to stay at one of our shelters to access this free, confidential service. Simply call our 24-hour Crisis Line at one of the telephone numbers shown elsewhere on this page. We will be glad to discuss your housing concerns and talk with you about next steps.
