Women’s Intervention Advocate
Relief (Casual) Position
Duties:
To provide
crisis intervention, educational intervention, and support
services to women and their children surviving abuse. This
will be achieved through phone contact, intakes, one to one
intervention, case management and assisting with program planning.
This position involves working in a secure residential setting.
Basic
Requirements:
Strong
communication and problem solving skills. The ability to handle
a crisis and carry out independent decision-making is essential.
The candidate must possess the ability to work as part of
a team, have well-developed interpersonal skills and have
experience working with diverse groups. Knowledge of the issue
of violence against women is an asset.
Qualifications:
Post secondary
education in social services/social work or related field,
or equivalent work experience is required. Proficiency in
a second language is strongly encouraged.
Hours:
This is
an on-call position. Applicants must be available for day,
evening, and midnight shifts both during the week and on the
weekends as the shelter provides services 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Often, little advance notice is possible.
