Appointment Information
Mom’s First Program Appointment:
During the initial appointment, we discuss any necessary
safety planning for the mom and any children. We’ll look at
how abuse witnessing may have affected your children and how
they m ay react coming to our shelters. We’ll talk about what
issues relate to your children that you may be concerned about.
We’ll also discuss what topics you think might be helpful
for your children to talk about.
Children’s First Program Appointment:
During the children’s first appointment, we review the house
rules and help the children to make sense of anything about
shelter living that they have questions about. We provide
them with a chance to talk about why they think they are staying
at the shelter and discuss any safety planning they think
is important. The Child Youth Worker will also discuss other
items that they feel are important for them to know. They
discuss what they like and dislike, what fun things they like
to do and what things can help make staying here more comfortable
and fun. They receive a welcome package with writing paper,
envelopes, their own brochure and a stuffed animal or doll
that they pick out themselves.
Donate to the Program
Donations to the program are always accepted.
Due to legislature, we are however unable to accept baby items,
such as cribs, highchairs and strollers.
