Through a team of dedicated, trained Women’s Intervention Advocates, we strive to empower women who have experienced abuse. This is achieved through intervention that:

• is aimed at increasing a woman’s safety and the safety of her children
• is aimed at increasing a woman’s knowledge about abuse
• is provided in a non judgmental-environment
• is based on the unique needs of each woman and the needs of her child(ren)
• allows a woman to explore her options and make her own choices

Services offered to women leaving an abusive relationship include:

• telephone crisis line 24 hours a day, seven days a week
• assistance with planning a departure
• temporary accommodation in safe shelter
• safety planning
• crisis intervention to reduce the trauma and crisis of abuse
• individual counselling based on an educational model
• group and life skills counselling
• practical and emotional support to begin a life free from abuse
• referrals to other community resources
• advocacy
  Shelter services are free and confidential.
