Volunteer Information
Women's Place of South Niagara Inc. is able to offer our
services through the combined efforts of trained staff and
our generous and dedicated volunteers.
Statistics
Each year, over 5,000 volunteer hours are donated to the
shelter and our events. We have over 20 devoted volunteers
that help us within the shelter directly and over 300 event
volunteers that help us host one of our four annual major
events each year.

Our Volunteers
Volunteers are truly needed at our shelters to continue the
daily activities. Some of the activities that our volunteers
assist us with are highlighted below.
Household Activities:
Daily household tasks include organizing donations, grocery
shopping, and light maintenance (e.g.
hanging a bulletin board).
Fund Raising Activities:
Volunteers are needed to assist with all aspects of events
organization and delivery. Annual events include a giant used
book sale (Book Riot), Craft Show, Strike Out Violence Bowling
Tournament and the Golf Tournament.
As a volunteer you can assist in a variety of tasks
including:
- Event organization
- Promotion
- Administrative
support
- Hospitality
- Event registration
Residential Units:
Women's Place offers
services to women who are victims of abuse and their children.
Volunteers spend time with clients and their children as well
as clerical functions like answering telephones.
Administration
Activities:
Office skills such as filing and typing can be an asset in all areas of a non-profit organization including the administration unit.
